How Long did it take to finish: One week reading; 2 days with Audible Narration.

Usually, I would have to pair the books I read with a glass (bottle) of wine. Since I read this book on my lunch break, I listened to it while driving home.  I couldn’t pair this book with wine. I choose the book based on a previous novel by the author. My first impression of this book was it was quirky and unexpected.  Annie’s main character first comes off obnoxious, but you realize she is hugely guarded due to life experience as the story unfolds. I appreciate the life lessons Annie learns throughout the book. The fact that the life lessons don’t jade her but actually push her to embrace life. Each moment in the book, you witness Annie letting down her guard and trying something new.  The author peels the layers back in a subtle manner to reveal Annie’s honest self while allowing her to maintain some of her charming quirks.  The book is written in an Epistolary style of writing.  Through Annie’s perspective, you see the world, but through emails, list serves(yes, there is a neighborhood List server that is hilarious), news articles, and text messages.  During Annie’s, journey you see how she challenges her views, and she stops getting in her own way.  I enjoyed the book and have already suggested this book to two people.  I hope this helps you in your reading journey.

The reason I suggest a Beaujolais Nouveau for several reasons. One of the characters in the book has a connection with France.  I also love Beaujolais Nouveau because it’s a bottle of excellent drinking wine.  Muscat and Table red were drunk in the book by the main character. I feel the Beaujolais really captures the essence of Annie. If you didn’t know what Beaujolais Nouveau is, you would think it was a bougie wine. Once you learn it means first of the Harvest, you get to experience a delicious, cheerful wine that makes you wonder what else have I been missing out on because you stay in your box.  Annie’s character development reminds me of a Beaujolais, it appears stand-offish, but once you let down your guard, you are taken on an incredible adventure of personal growth.

P.S. Heads up, it’s been a while since I Have written a book review. The more I write, the better these reviews will get.  Thank you for reading this review, and I hope you decided to read “This Won’t End Well” by Camille Pagan.
