This book was in my collection since the summer, but I forgot that it was in my Kindle collection until two weeks ago. I began reading the book and was intrigued by the premise Do (pronounced doe), who is at a crossroads in her life. The book highlights a lot of exciting themes that can affect women in their 30’s. I would like to focus on the duality of friendships and interpersonal relationships. In this book, Do’s companies are a vital part of her life. I do not want to give away too much of the story because I hope you will go read the book. Do is the friend we all wish we had, but the same friend is the same friend that when life gets complicated for them, they typically go M.I.A.
I will say Do, is human; she wants to be everyone’s hero, she wants to make everyone happy, but she also wants to pursue her desires. Throughout the book, it was nice to see people understand Do’s generous nature and never take advantage of giving heart. However, as her life becomes sticky and life events occur, she doesn’t do the same thing. You have to ask does this make Do an asshole or just a flawed person? One interaction with a semi-close friend caused me to cuss the friend, no Do out. ( I literally kept saying, Ma’am are you listening to yourself? Is this how you want to hold someone accountable?) Taking a step back and looking at Do’s action from her perspective, Do was dropping the ball and being a flake. She deserved some of her friend ire.
I choose Smoking Loon Unoaked Chardonnay because it’s smooth but complicated. It has lemon and pineapple notes, which is funny because the main character makes a hummingbird cake, which one of the ingredients in Hummingbird cake is PINEAPPLES! The wine perfectly pairs with this book; both the book and wine were smooth and complicated. I would suggest reading the book, but the audible is good for listening while driving.
I hope you enjoy this review.

P.s. I read a few reviews on Goodreads, and people destroy this book. Maybe, I am too easy on the book but at least try the wine. The Wine is becoming a staple in my wine collection.
