I recently read one of the Amazon Original Stories. Real talk: How do I get my short stories featured in Amazon Original Stories, or should I just do it myself and offer it on my website? ( This is a result of reading We Should all be Millionaires, LOL) I read My Evil Mom, and it was the cutest story about a daughter learning to appreciate her eccentric mom. You read the book from the daughter’s perspective, reminiscent of life growing up with her mother, a Witch. The book reminded me of how I was raised, with the warning of not getting entangled with certain people. Respecting the rules and requests of an elder. The main protagonist comes off bratty; to me, she is just a reminder of how 73% of us were with our mothers, mad at their warnings and rules. As the book continues, we discover why her mother did certain things, and Margaret Atwood showcases that parents’ little things are usually for the greater good. Margaret Atwood is good at mysterious and humanizing characters to make them seem larger than life and show their human emotions. It was a quick read I finished while sipping on my Starbucks during my lunch break. I had a Brown Sugar Mocha. I would suggest reading this book if you want a quick read. You want to read about understanding a mother-daughter relationship without horrific trauma. If you ever felt like your mother had mystical abilities but could not prove it, this book is perfect for you.
This book has inspired me to post a short story I worked on 2 years ago called Electricity; it’s a WIP ( Work in Progress) that I never finished. Maybe this will inspire me to tell the rest of the story.
Until Next Time,
Che Michelle
