Here is the other book that gripped my attention and made me say, “Whoa, what is happening?” It is book 6, “My Boyfriends are all Monsters,” written by Kimberly Lemming. Kimberly Lemming is one of my favorite fantasy/romance writers because she centers Black women as the objects of desire. I fell in love with Ms. Lemming’s writing from the “ That time I got Drunk …” Series. In this book, Ms. Lemming did not disappoint. We are introduced to Lucy, a woman who is dealing with an ain’t sh!t boyfriend (sorry for the colloquial statement) and his best friend Stephanie on a camping trip. I have so many questions: “Why was Stephanie on the trip?” Also, why was Mark such a word that rhymes with witch?” Lucy breaks free from that group and ends up in a quaint small town with several men vying for her attention. As the book unfolds, you find out that a supernatural being has fallen for Lucy.

The book was funny and complex, and it gives you the Katee Roberts feel of consensual, healthy polyamory. Now I have more questions: is it really polyamory? You have to read the book. I enjoy the character development of the main characters. The side character “The Raven” spirit was interesting. He added a bit of intrigue, humor, and menacing demeanor, just enough to keep the story intriguing. My favorite part of the story
was the group chat within the book. Lucy had a fantastic group of friends, who checked in on her, cussed her raggedy boyfriend out, and reminded her that she needed to get out of the creepy town.
The book has a spice level of 5 jalapenos. Yes, at the end of the book, you will be trying to cool yourself off and wondering if having multiple monster boyfriends is the best recipe for a happy life. This book will break the Moscato run I was on for the other two books. I had a creamy Bourbon tea drink while reading this book. I have to work on the recipe before I share it, but below is a classic Hot Toddy Tea Drink. I think this works well for this story; it was warm, with notes of sweetness and the liquor’s heat to spice up those sensual moments that end the book.

Classic Hot Bourbon Tea Recipe
Ingredients: 1–2 oz bourbon, 8 oz hot water, 1 tea bag (black, chamomile, or chai), 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice, and optional garnishes like a cinnamon stick or cloves.
Instructions:
Boil water and steep the tea bag in a mug for 3-5 minutes.
Remove the tea bag and stir in the honey until it dissolves.
Add the lemon juice and bourbon.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick or lemon slice and serve immediately.
