For the longest time, I have a friend who raved about Talia Hibbert. I can’t remember the first book I read by Ms. Hibbert. But I do remember I enjoyed it, but alas, I was shamed for reading romance by a former partner ( they are gone ) and never kept up with her writings. My good friend recently brought me a book that she thought I would enjoy; that review will be coming in late May. I say all this to say, I started reading another one of Ms. Hibbert’s books, “The Princess Trap.”
I enjoyed reading this book because it wasn’t a typical Princess setup; it started as a possible one-night stand and ended with a semi happily ever after. Cherry’s character was a mix of delight and overly guarded, but she understood why she was protected. As the story unfolds, you invest in Cherry and realize she loves Rueben and wants Rueben to rearrange her guts.
Speaking of Rueben, this man is enamored and in love with Cherry. I love how the author writes about him wanting to be the provider and protector of a woman without taking away a women’s sovereignty. You are like Rueben get it together at times, he never becomes a complete prick, and you realize he is just as guarded as Cherry. He loves her body, loves every curve, loves her hair, and will not have anyone disrespect her on any level. He wants to dominate her, but only sexually. I love how they seem to understand each other and balance each other in a non-trauma bond way (to me). She encourages him to do the right thing. He encourages her to follow her dreams.
Here the thing, I need everyone to get the audible book. Read it without the audible book, then listen to the audible book; you will thank me or curse me later. Overall, it’s a great weekend read for the beach, a trip, or flight. If you are just trying to relax with a bit of romance, with a lot of non-traditional sex. This is an excellent match for you. Even the nuggets of acceptance, healing, standing up for yourself, and beliefs. Yes, Erotica/ Romance can have life lessons. Stop being closed-minded.
I can totally see this on Lifetime, Hallmark, or UP as a movie of the week during Valentine’s day weekend or even Labor Day weekend.
So I paired this book with a beautiful French Rose’ called Flying Pig. OMG highlighted the silly moments but help pull me into the heartbreaking moments also. The wine has a clean finish, with notes of Red berries, mainly Strawberries and Cherries to me, and a little raspberry delight.
As we head into summer, pick up this book and bottle. Sit on your porch and enjoy an unconventional love story that warms your heart.
