Hey all,

So 2021  is going out With a BANG!   Behind the scenes, the podcast I am on  Three Angry Black People was super busy from  August – October. We had some dope interviews on the podcast.  I had to slow down on writing my reviews to ensure I didn’t let my co-host down.  I also pushed myself to do a temporary promotion at work, which was a lot of work. In exchange, I wanted my weekends to relax and not write. Also, my laptop and portable keyboard are on their last leg ( New Laptops and Keyboard are coming).  I indeed neglected my blog t.  focus on my personal life.  In a previous post, I discuss some of the exciting things I am planning to add to the blog moving forward.

So  I am back. I will be taking the next few weeks to read new books and write a few reviews. I am hoping to preschedule books for 2022.  I am hoping that this will help keep me on track for 2022.

But today, I wanted to talk about books I started in 2021 and didn’t finish. I think we are all guilty of that phenom, beginning a book rather than forgetting the book and then wondering what happened to that book. You buy a book or gift a book. You start to read a page or two. Then someone calls you, and after the call,  you decide to run errands; you place the text on the coffee table. Then, three months later, you remember you started reading the book on your coffee table. Viola! So below are the books I started and didn’t finish in 2021.

Circe by Madeline Miller- I love this book, but I am only 11% done according to kindle. I have to ask myself, Why? The answer is easy. I started this book when I took the temporary promotion and was not ready to read. So far, Ms. Miller’s use of imagery is beautiful. I love the classic retelling of Greek mythology. If you listen to the podcast, then ā€œLet talk about Myths babyā€ host Liv ( she suggested the book on her podcast); her synopsis was spot on for this book. I am planning to start this book again in 2022.

How to Stop Time by Matt Haig- I enjoy Matt Haig’s storytelling; when I wrote this post, I was 46% completed.  I think I will try to finish this book in 2022. If I don’t, I still enjoyed the Midnight library hold that novel in high regard for myself for 2021.

Noir- Christopher Moore If you don’t know, Christopher Moore is one of my favorite Authors. I love 86% of all his books. Mr. Moore is one of the reasons I want to be an author, to write sarcastic humor. Noir was just not my cup of tea. I think I wasn’t in the mood and decided to try again later in the year. In my  Spongebob announcer voice ā€œ( months later) …. Noir is still there looking at me like, did you forget about me. I did!   I will try again in 2022.

I Owe You One- Sophia Kinsella. Another Author that. I appreciate it, but I just was like, meh.Ā  I can’t pinpoint if it was the main character or justĀ  t. first chapter, but I skipped to another book called Hae w. met, which held my attention.

Cinderella is Dead-  I  own the book, I have the. Kindle version o. the book. I had every intention to complete this book in 2021. I wanted to read the book based on other reviews from Friends, Tik Tok, Kirkus, and the litany of different reviews. My brain said no, and  I didn’t fight it; maybe it would make the 2022 list.

We got two more books that I didn’t finish this year.

The City We Became- N.K Jemisin  NK Jemisin has become one of my go-to authors since 2016.  I love Jemisin’s writing and wish I could write as eloquent with words or storytelling, and her world-building and artistic style are unmatched to me( and only me  Fight you, mama, not me). But, her books can have heavy moments so, I promised myself that I would come back to this book when I was in better spirits. But, I will be honest, I hit an emotional rough spot and need happy-go-lucky books.

Also, How long to Black Future Month, I love this short story collection but didn’t finish this, book which is a disgrace to any N.K. But, Jemisin fans, don’t banish me from her fandom; I promise to finish it by 2022.

Until next time,

Che Michelle
