Unfinished Books of 2024

Written by:

As we step into 2025, it’s a perfect moment to reflect on the books that have been part of my personal reading journey. Some were forgotten, some left unfinished, and some simply didn’t resonate with me enough to compel me to finish them. These are the books that didn’t quite make it to the ‘completed’ list in 2024.

  1. Clever Girl Finance: Learn how investing works and grow your money

I started this book in November 2024. After listening and reading, I realized this is a book you must block off your Weekend with your computer, a notebook, and all your financial documents for the results to be more effective. I love the Bola Sokunbi approach to finances; her methods deserve your full attention; make it a self-care Saturday for your money.  Get your investments right in 2025. Also, once you read this book (I am halfway through), you will want to see a financial planner to help craft your money goals for 2025.

Status: I am going to finish this book by March 2025.

  • Missing White Woman by Kellye Garrett. This book did not grip me. I didn’t finish the first chapter. I also think I was not in the mindset for a book of this nature. I started reading this book during Christmas, but I wanted something more light-hearted for the end of 2024. I decided that I would come back to this book later in 2025. As of right now, it did not make me say, “Read Me! ” I hope it was due to me starting this book during the holiday season, and it will work out better in 2025.

Status: I may finish this book. Maybe I won’t. We shall see

  • Rich AF by Vivan Tu This book has been on my FYP (for you page) and all over YouTube. I like the author’s energy and mission to help the average person tap into ways rich people use all available resources to save money, and navigate money. Vivan, similar to Bola, writes in a way that makes money feel easy but gets you to understand more minor nuances of money and money habits to keep more money in your pocket.

Status: Money March will be on the blog, I will finish this book by March 31, 2025

  • Takeover by Evelyn Sola is another book in which the main character is born on Thanksgiving. My issue with this book is that the main character gets on my damn nerves. She legit makes me want her to say, stop acting like an entitled brat.  Here the thing I think sometimes authors write characters as cocky to show confidence, and it comes off as arrogant.  I have seen authors write confident characters, both men and women, and I loved them. I think it’s a skill to write a character confidently.   Right now, I am in chapter four.

Status: when I am bored or by accident I will finish this book.

  • The Djinn Waits a Hundred Years by Shubnum Khan. This book has amazing world-building and beautiful writing. I was intrigued by every character’s interaction. It deserves my full attention. If you like introspection and a hidden mystery, this book is for you. I started it when I was struggling with my emotions and some family issues. I put it down for now.

Status: Will pick up in Spring 2025.

  • “Inanna” by Emily H. Wilson no.  Just No.  I love mythology and Mesopotamian mythology, but this book was not for me.  Another time, the author wrote Inanna in a way that made her feel weak compared to the type of goddess she was described as in ancient texts.

Status: No.  No, you would have to pay me to finish this book.

To round out the list

“I Curse You with Joy” by Tiffany Haddish: I love Tiffany Haddish!  I love her comedy and her movies. I love her first book, “The Last Black Unicorn,” but  “I Curse You With Joy” did not hold my attention.  This book digs deeper into her current struggles and finds balance in her life with newfound fame.  I want to say that maybe I couldn’t enjoy the book because I was dealing with emotions, or perhaps it was another time Spotify hit me with an out-of-time message.  I may try to read this book sometime in 2025. Memoir May might be a blog thing. LOL

Status: I will try again in late Spring

Here are the Unfinished books of 2024. I missed a few, but these are the ones that stuck out in my head. A gentle reminder: You don’t have to finish every book. Sometimes, it’s better to come back to it later or just say no when it doesn’t sit well with your spirit or if it makes no sense. Maybe in 2025, we can make a bad book list 😊.

Until Next Time,

Che Michelle
